Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde urged the Maratha community on Wednesday not to demonstrate in support of reservation because the administration is giving the quota demand serious consideration. Shinde's assurance is timely as hundreds of supporters, led by activist Manoj Jarange, are en route to Mumbai on January 26 to begin a protest calling for reservation. "The desire for a Maratha reservation is well received by the state administration. He remarked, "I implore the Maratha community to abstain from demonstrating.

How did CM Shinde put it?

Shinde noted that 1.5 lakh individuals work in three shifts and provided information regarding the State Backward Class Commission's ongoing survey aimed at evaluating the Maratha community's social, economic, and educational backwardness. "Once the Backward Classes Commission submits the survey report, a special session of the state legislature will be called to frame the law," according to him.

Leader of the Shivaba group Manoj Jarange Patil has kept his word and, backed by thousands of supporters, started a 'Mumbai March' from his hometown of Antarwali-Sarti to demand Maratha reservation. Jarange Patil is traveling towards the nation's commercial hub while carrying saffron flags, chanting "Jai Bhawani, Jai Shivaji," having prayers on their lips, determination on their faces, and occasionally wet eyes. "Justice for Marathas is what we are fighting for. They ought to receive their just desserts. We will march on Mumbai without stopping. No bullet can stop me now. I'm willing to sacrifice my life for the Marathas, whether I stay or not, but we won't go back until we have a reservation."
